Teeth Whitening
What is Teeth Whitening?
Whitening is a great way to remove years worth of staining and discoloration from your child’s teeth. Children and teens may find that whitening is helpful after having braces removed because they are able to get rid of the staining that has occurred. Professional whitening is done right in our office, and we even offer take-home kits so that they can whiten in the comfort of their own bedroom or bathroom. We continually monitor results and help with handling any instances of sensitivity.
Why might Teeth Whitening be needed?
There are a few reasons why your child might benefit from or need whitening. For one, they might be attending prom or some other type of event and want to look their best. Your child might have recently had their braces removed, which could leave behind stains and discoloration that affect the way that their smile looks. Whitening is often safe for older children and teens who are looking for a drastic change to their smile.
What makes your child a candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Your child’s teeth should be otherwise healthy enough to undergo whitening treatment. We will perform an examination to determine if they are a good candidate for professional whitening. Whitening may not be suitable for younger children, since it’s best for older kids and teens. Most teens who want to undergo whitening can safely have the treatment done in our office.
What can be expected during Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening will begin with an exam and consultation. For in-office whitening, we will apply a whitening gel to their teeth and place a light over their smile to help accelerate results. For our take-home kits, we take impressions to make custom-fit trays that they will wear in the comfort of their own home. They can keep the trays and will simply need to come in to get new whitening gel whenever they want a quick touchup. Whitening is safe and has been proven time and time again to work effectively at removing built-up stains and heavy discoloration.
If your child or teen is interested in whitening, call our office today so that we will be able to get them in for a consultation appointment.
